Two-star Michelin chef - Michel Roux Jr's budding partnership with one of the UK’s award-winning Gin specialists leads to second exciting development.
In 2021 Michel Roux Jr. partnered with Staffordshire distiller, Nelson’s Distillery & School to create the pouring gin for his famous fine dining restaurant - Le Gavroche, based on Upper Brook Street, Mayfair, London.
The Le Gavroche Gin is a unique blend of 28 botanicals designed to provide a taste of Provence, working in harmony with the classical French menu on offer at the restaurant.
Since its release, the gin has been a huge success both at the restaurant and through Le Gavroche and Nelson’s online stores.
Customers who were lucky enough to get their hands on one of the first 1000 bottles were entered into a competition to win a meal for two at Le Gavroche and a Shared Gin Making Experience at Nelson’s Gin & Vodka School. Bottle 765 was randomly selected by Michel himself.
Bitten by the distilling bug Michel Roux Jr was keen to produce a second spirit and continue the budding relationship with craft distiller Nelson’s Distillery & School.
Michel used his expert culinary knowledge and extensive chefing experience to research and develop his latest recipe. Michel Roux Gin is a true celebration of the Roux family.
“A gin with character and style, the floral notes from the thyme and sweetness from the vanilla are perfectly balanced with the delicate touch of pine and spice of peppercorns. Delightful in a long drink and rather special in a cocktail.” - Michel Roux Jr.
Neil Harrison said: “It has been an absolute pleasure working with Michel.
The ability to work so closely with someone of this caliber who understands and appreciates the delicate science involved in distilling is so refreshing. To bounce ideas around and have them met with such in-depth knowledge of flavours and characteristics is truly remarkable and is reflective in this gin.
I’m excited to see where this partnership will lead, all I am certain of is that we will continue producing outstanding gin.”
The self-titled gin is available to purchase from Le Gavroche’s online store and from Nelson’s on-site and online store.
